RPM420 is a multipurpose I/O module for use in Alarm monitoring and

Integrated Control Systems.  RMP420 is designed for 32 field input channels

in single topologies. Its interface towards the host control computer (RCU) is

provided by redundant I/O bus.

The module is approved for Ex Zone 2 applications.

General description

The KONGSBERG radar based Tank Overfill

Protection System for gas carriers meets the IMO

requirements ‘Cargo Tank Overfill Protections

System’.

The system includes radar tank gauges,

processing and alarm handling units, and a

dedicated operator panel. Integration to K-Gauge

level gauging system is included with mimic

presentation on the Operator Stations.

All equipment on deck is designed for rugged

marine environment and manufactured in AISI

316L stainless steel. Accurate measurement is

possible regardless of the tank atmospheric

conditions. Flexible hardware and software

modules ensure easy adaptation to Liquefied

Petroleum Gases (Propane, Butane), Ethylene,

Ammonia (NH3), and Liquefied Natural Gas.

Principle of operation

The RTG emits a frequency sweeping

microwave signal through a still pipe. The

distance is derived from the time delay of the

reflected signal.

K-Gauge TOP

The still pipe is assembled by one top-, middle-

and bottom section. Total length of the still pipe

is typically 10 meter, and the system allows for

several adjustable alarm limits in the area of the

middle section (6 meter).

The pipes have ventilation holes allowing the

vapour pressure inside and outside the pipe to

stabilize, thus allowing the liquid to rise or fall

unimpeded in the pipe.

Each pipe section is supplied with flanges

prepared with reference markers. The liquid level

and the markers are measured simultaneously, so

the system automatically verifies itself at every

measurement. By careful calibration of the pipe

sections length before installation, the positions

of the markers are recorded and stored in the

system. By comparing the liquid echo with the

reference marker echo, a continuous auto

calibration of the level gauge is done.

The electronic unit in the RTG includes a

patented signal detection method that ensures

optimum performance. Combined with its superb

signal-to-noise ration, GLA-310/5TOP offers the

highest measurement reliability and accuracy.

Each RTG is connected to a dedicated signal

processing unit, where the AutroCAL® principle

is employed.

K-Gauge TOP

AutroCAL®

AutroCAL® is a unique calibration and

verification function in the KONGSBERG

system. Gas vapor density and mixture of gases

influence the propagation speed of the radar

signal, thus the accuracy of the measurement.

By using pipe joint reference markers,

AutroCAL® continuously compensates for the

changes caused by the differences in the

propagation speed.

With AutroCAL®, the influence of the gas vapor

density and composition is measured and

compensated for automatically.

Kongsberg DPS112 DGNSS (DGPS/DGLONASS) sensor

MARITIME DGNSS SENSOR FOR WORLDWIDE OPERATIONS

DPS 112 is a robust and reliable DGNSS (DGPS/DGLONASS) sensor suitable for a wide range of marine

applications. It utilises the new Seastar SGG service capable of world wide sub-metre accuracy. Perfor

mance is independent of distance from reference stations.

Seastar SGG service

DPS 112 has been developed to utilise the new Global Satel

lite Based Augmentation System (Global SBAS) introduced by

Fugro Satellite Positioning, the Seastar SGG service. Unlike

regional SBAS services such as WAAS, EGNOS, GAGAN and

MSAS, and local DGPS services such as IALA DGPS, Seastar

SGG utilises Fugro’s own network of dual system reference

stations to calculate ‘orbit and clock’ corrections. The service

provides consistent sub-metre level accuracy positioning with

global validity.

DPS 112 is even capable of supplementing Seastar SGG cor

rections with regional SBAS and local IALA DGPS corrections.

GPS and GLONASS

One of the primary advantages of a combined GPS/GLONASS

system is the increased satellite coverage. The addition of

GLONASS increases system availability and the performance

of DPS 112 is greatly enhanced compared to traditional DGPS

systems when operating in highly obstructed environments and

under challenging signal tracking conditions.

Intended use.

The built-in modules are intended for different application as parts of communication system/station. The cabinets

required for these built-in modules must have minimum IP54 rating. ‘X’-marking associated to special condition of

use is used. However safety concern was taken into account in considerations for relevant tests (e.g. thermal

endurance test).

control system, e.g. internal air temperature.

Investigation of modules RMP420S & RMP422S (S-versions) is considered to be representative for modules

RMP420 & RMP422 since electronics is the same, only software may be different. The later designed module

RMP422S has multipurpose application which may/can cover the usage of several other listed modules as well.

Reset-switch and other addressable switch on a few modules may also be used only during testing/service/repair

or initializing start-up procedure of DUT where the service personnel must follow the normal safety procedures

before any service/repair work. See Special condition of use. Those switches are not used in normal operation

mode. Warning and safety precaution are provided for these switches and their application. See Copy of marking

plate.

Design.

All modules have internal transient protection except for module. RSER200-4 module is however interconnected

between other modules with internal transient protection. All modules have power dissipation approximately to or

less than 20W, therefore these built-in modules are considered as non-sparking low power equipment complying

with clause 13 of IEC60079-15: 2010. Requirements of creepage & air clearance distances are exempted. The

operating input voltage for all modules is 24Vdc, all secondary analogue and digital voltages are derived from

24Vdc input for functional purposes. Assessments are based therefore on 24Vdc as the only operating voltage.

0V reference of 24Vdc input is connected to module’s metal frame. DUT may be earthed in the end installation

and may be evaluated in the end use. Power supply with galvanic separation must be used in the end application.

Connection facilities and suitable terminals are provided. The cable lug connection may be used only during

testing or initializing start-up procedure of DUT. Cable lug is not used otherwise in normal operation mode. All

wiring is to be internal in the end installation.

General product information:

The module EFI-16 Earth Fault Indicator is used to monitor the input and output current and which indicates an

earth fault. Relay K1 on EFI-16 module is investigated for ‘nC’ requirements of IEC60079-15: 2010. Module EFI

16 is therefore evaluated for nA & nC type of protection.

Opto-couplers are used as functional separation for I/O signal of communication system. Opto-couplers have no

safety function and are treated as any other ICs due to the fact that investigation is based on requirements of

non-sparking low power equipment.

Test configuration / considerations

Built-in modules have different rated input voltage range. The output current on I/O channels are consequently

controlled & distributed so that the thermal & power aspects do not exceed the defined limits.  All channels are

short circuit protected. For high current outputs the cut-off point is by default limited to 1.08 Amp for each

channel, regardless of the supplied voltage (18 – 32VDC). Output is shutdown at input voltage less than the max

rated voltage due to this reason. Thermal condition and current are monitored and are controlled by the ma

The industrial ETHERNET series MICE (Modular Industrial Communication

Equipment) consists of a basic switch module and the media modules. These

devices can be managed. A basic module contains all the functions of this

industrial Switch, with the exception of the interfaces to the LAN that is

connected. Pluggable media modules provide these interfaces. They differ

with regard to the number of interfaces and the media type for connecting

segments. An expansion module enables you to add 2 slots for media

modules to the basic module.

For the sake of simplicity, the basic switch module with various plugged in

media modules will be referred to as MICE in this document.

 The MS20-… device variants are modular switches with up to 8 ×, 16 × or

24 × 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet ports. You can choose the media for the

ports via the media modules.

 The MS30-… device variants are modular switches with up to 8 ×, 16 × or

24 × 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet ports and up to 2 × additional Gigabit ports

(1000 Mbit/s Ethernet). You can choose the media for the ports via the

media modules.

The basic module of the MS20/MS30 contains all the function units, such as:

switch function, management function, redundancy function, display control,

voltage connection, management connection, adjustable controls, slots for

media modules.
